Introducing Diesel

We got a puppy.  Ok he's 92 pounds but he's still a puppy.  We saw him Saturday at the shelter and fell in love.  John and the girls went to pick him up tonight.  It's been a whirlwind of a night.  Skylar is in love.  She was jumping around so much that she actually hurt her knee.  I'm not sure if she popped it out of joint or just strained it, but she couldn't straighten it at first and even now she's hobbling around.  It's not keeping her from playing with the dog though.  Larissa is a little scared.  She spent the first half hour on top of our kitchen table (where she was laughing) but when she's on the floor she's scared.  She says she likes him, but she's scared too.  I hope she gets better quickly.  She was never afraid of Bailey, but she also never knew a time without Bailey until he died.  Skylar can't get enough.

Now the girls are in bed (reluctantly) and Diesel is sleeping.  We haven't seen Boomer since we got home, but Asha is out here now wandering around.  The dog has NO CLUE there are cats around.  Asha is keeping her distance, but she's investigating.

Asha came wandering out and stopped dead in her tracks

she got a little closer but then slowly turned and headed back to the kitchen.

playing Ichabods

I just love watching them play. Here are some of their latest antics.

playing with the Fisher Price Zoo

when I asked her what was happening she said the animals were lining up to get into the zoo.  What a goof.

tumbling class

We decided to let the girls try tumbling.  I found a place very close by that offers a trial class.  They had their first class tonight.  Skylar jumped right in.  She had a huge smile on her face, listened to the instructor, and just really enjoyed it.  Larissa sat there at first and stared at the teacher.  Wouldn't stretch or anything, just sat there.  Finally the teacher got her to stretch.  Next they went to the trampoline. Again Skylar jumped right in and loved it.  Larissa was very scared and the teacher had to jump with her.  Next they went to a pile of mats and the girls did somersaults down a ramp.  Larissa came out of that with a huge smile.  After that she was hooked.  She gladly went onto other activities with a big smile on her face.  I couldn't see all that they were doing since there were a lot of other classes going on too and they spent a lot time towards the back of the room.  They had a lot of fun though and i signed them up for the next session.

Now to find them leotards.  I have some from a friend that Rissy can fit into.  I have to try Skylar.  I might need to go buy her one this weekend.

I couldn't get any pictures because we arent allowed in the gym.  I was watching from a window.

Skylar's writings

So Skylar was sitting at the table coloring and every once in a while she'd ask us how to spell something.  After a while we got up to see what she was doing because the words did not make any sense to us.  This is what I found.

in case you can't read it, it says
Skylar Aeslyn (a girl I watch)
Happy Valentine's Day
Tayah needs hats (Tayah is a friend from school)
Watch out for fox
Light gave sticker
Lip Heart

What it means?  I don't know.  She got some words off the Valentines stickers, some words she asked us to spell and some she sounded out.

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope everyone had a great day.  The girls had a party at school and came back with lots of candy and a sugar high.  That sugar high was fueled even more with the valentines cookies I had made.  I actually stopped their sugar intake by 1pm so they had time to come down off that high.

Here are some pictures of the girls today.  Larissa didn't want a picture in her dress because she said it wasn't as pretty as her sisters.  (please ignore the boxes on the floor, the girls just got new shoes and they were playing with the shoe boxes, i took another picture of Skylar away from the boxes but it came out very blurry)

they each made cards like this for their teachers

i made these with the babies.  it reads, "from the bottom of my heart to the tips of my toes, I love you"

Skylar loves to decorate and usually makes sure every inch is covered.

Larissa just wants it done, fast.  She has no attention span for art work

Skylar

She is such a goofball.  The other day she came up to me and said, look mommy.  She showed me her magna doodle.

after I read it I asked her why it said, I love hat.  She said, because I know how to spell hat, I didn't know how to spell you.

She cracks me up

She has been doing really well with her reading though.  Today at breakfast she was writing on a piece of paper.  She wrote out her name, Larissa, mom, daddy, dad, hat, cat and a few other words.  She has also been trying to sound out all sorts of words.  All day long you can hear her saying words and then trying to sound them out.  Most of the time she gets them right too.

Superbowl Sunday fun

Since I have absolutely no interest in football, and John isn't really into it this year (he's rooting for the Giants only because he really doesn't like the Patriots) we decided to take the girls bowling.  Larissa has never been bowling and Skylar hasn't been bowling since we moved here.  They had a blast.  We only bowled one game, and we had them split their turn, but that was enough for them.

the final score: Lisa 106, John 120, girls 58.  don't laugh.  john and I haven't been bowling in probably 8 years.  We are usually better than this.

After bowling we took them to the mall for some play time then to Texas Roadhouse for dinner.  Now we are back, the girls are in bed, John is watching the game (he DVR'd it) and as soon as I'm done with this I will go watch some tv in peace in my room.

They DO have their own opinions

She we've been noticing lately that the girls truely have their own preferences, despite any influences from us.  Music.  I like a wide variety, but Country is at the top of my list, and what I listen to most often.  John also likes a wide variety, and Country is at the top, but he also likes the more popular stuff.  While Larissa does like a few country songs (Shake it for me Girl, Life is a Highway), she prefers Lady Gaga over anything else, specifically Paparazzi.  Skylar really doesn't like any Country at all.  Her current favorite is Blow by Kei$ha.  She also likes Lady Gaga.  So despite me playing country music for them 90% of the time, they still prefer the pop stuff.

Soup Dinner

Tonight we went out to support our local fire department and first responders for their annual soup dinner.  They served chili, chicken noodle soup, applesauce, cinamon rolls and veggies with dip.  They also had cupcakes for the kids.  The food was really good and the place was pretty full.  We will definately be going back for next years dinner.  They also have a pancake breakfast coming up.
