Birthday party

Larissa got invited to a birthday party today.  A little boy in her class, Nathan.  I stayed with her, since she begged me to, lol.  There were a few other kids from her class there and their parents stayed also.  She wouldn't leave my side at first, then she finally played.  When her friend Olivia got there she finally left my side.  I got to meet a few of the other parents, which was nice.  She had a good time.  A few special guests came too, Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear from the Toy Story movies.  Larissa, being Larissa, wouldn't go anywhere near them.  She is not a fan of people in costumes.

Egg Hunt 1

This morning, we finally made it to the Tiffin Egg Hunt.  We tried last year but it snowed the morning of the hunt and they rescheduled it for the following weekend.  The following weekend we were in New York, so we missed it.  The girls were really excited to go, but once the egg hunt was on, they both froze.  I literally had to drag Rissy through the field.  She wouldnt pick up a single egg.  I managed to get 4 for her.  Skylar only got 5 because she wouldn't run to any of the eggs, and the other kids just kept grabbing them from in front of her.  We slowly wandered back toward the front after all the eggs were picked up.  There was a little boy of about 7 walking back too.  He looked at Rissy's bag and asked if she got any eggs.  I said, yes she got 4.  Skylar said she got 5.  He took one of his eggs and gave it to Rissy and said, here, you should have the same as your sister.  I was extremely impressed.  I told him that was a very nice thing to do.  When we got to the front, he went up to his mom.  John told her what he did and she was very impressed.  Turns out his little brother goes to school with Rissy.  It's nice to see that kids are being raised with manners.

Here are some pictures of the hunt and games after.  They had an egg race (hold the egg on a spoon) and a bunny hop (sack race)  Skylar did both, Larissa wouldn't leave my side.  Each girl got to pick a prize too.  They picked smiley face blow up balls.  Even though it was quite cold, they had fun.

cuties

We found these outfits at Target and i thought they were just so cute.

Then I went to check on them one night before I went to bed.  I'm not quite sure Skylar is sleeping with a rubber snake.

Rissy had all her animals and babies lined up next to her.

Old Friends

This weekend the girls got to visit with their first friends they made here in Iowa.  I used to babysit the girls until they moved this past year.  They were down here shopping and we met them at the mall to play.  The girls were so happy to see each other.

Fun Fair

Tonight Skylar's new school had their fun fair.  All the new Kindergartners got invited to go.  We got 5 free tickets and then I spent $10 to buy Skylar some more tickets.  I decided to make this a special night for Skylar and took her by myself.  Larissa stayed here with John.  It's rare that I get to spend time with just Skylar and she was really excited when I told her.  We first got something to eat.  Panchero's was sponsoring the night so Skylar got a chicken taco and I got a burrito.  Then it was time to play some games.  Her facorites were the duck pond, lollipop tree and fishing pond.  She also got her finger nails painted.  She wanted her face painted but I said no because it was going to be bed time when we got back.  If it was in the morning, I would have said yes.  After we used all her tickets to play games, we went into the gym to trade her fun money in for prizes. She got a princess wand for her and for Larissa, a kite for each of them, some candy, a matchbox car, a pez dispenser, some chap stick and a punching balloon (her favorite)  With her fishing game she won a few necklaces, bracelet, some erasers and other little trinkets.  She also got about 4 lollipops.  I didn't get any pictures at the fair (it was a bit chaotic) but i got a few after we got home.

Larissa was so happy that her sister shared her stuff.

some school work

it's been a while since the girls brought home anything worth while, but this week they have.

Skylar's class has been learning about spring and flowers.  They went to pick daffodil's the other day and each child got to bring one home.

Today at the library they read a book on spring, and then drew their own flowers.

They also talked about what they are afraid of.  Skylar is afraid of spiders, snakes and bears.  lol.

Larissas class has been reading nursery rhymes.  Her favorites are Humpty Dumpty and Jack and Jill.

Here is her Humpty Dumpty

They have also been working on their numbers.  here she was counting fish

cake decorating

John and the girls made a cake this past weekend.  The girls got to decorate it.  They chose candy corn and sprinkles.

A lazy Saturday

Ok, not lazy, but a fun day.  First we went to the dog park.  Diesel ran and ran and was worn out in about 30 minutes.  Then we dropped him back at home and stopped in at Theisens for some dog food and other dog things (a new water jug for outside, and a gentle leader)  Then it was off to lunch.  We wanted to try the new dorito tacos at Taco Bell (they were yummy), and then off to the grocery store.  After putting groceries away and resting for just a bit, we took the girls and the dog to Kent park.  Diesel did really well with the gentle leader leash.  i can actually walk him without him pulling my arm out of the socket.  When we got home the girls played out back with the dog and John made dinner.  I think we are the only people who did not make corned beef tonight (we actually made one last week instead)  Instead we made flank steak with some rice and veggies.  Then it was off to the bath for the girls.  Now they are playing until bed time.  Here are some pictures of or day.

cup holders hold multiple things

cup holders on Skylar's bike are for more than just holding a water bottle.  Apparently they are good at holding baby dolls too.
